  10. I just acquired a 2620 accelerator (so I'm on a budget, okay?!?) from
  11. the local used Amiga parts dealer, who are very difficult to get ahold
  12. of save for one night each month (when they host the local users'
  13. group meeting and so are open way late).  This card is populated with
  14. 4MB of ZIP's.  When I put it into my machine, I got a yellow screen,
  15. blue text, stating that there were total 5MB (incorrect, there are 7
  16. with the 4 on the accel, 2 on the 2091 and 1 on the motherboard) and
  17. that Autoconfig ran out of RAM.  It dropped me into an ML monitor of
  18. some sort.

  20. I was able, by playing with jumpers, etc, to get the machine to
  21. display a boot selection screen (three boxes, one each marked
  22. "AmigaDOS on 68000," "AmigaDOS on 68020" and "Amiga UX."), but still
  23. the message about Autoconfig being out of memory space in the upper
  24. left-hand corner.  If I clicked on either of the AmigaDOS boxes, it
  25. hit my HD a couple of times, then came back to that screen.  If I
  26. clicked on the AmigaUX box, it hit the floppy drive and (natrually,
  27. lacking a UNIX boot disk) returned to this screen.

  29. For the record, here is the full setup:

  31. Amiga 2000, fat agnus, 1MB chip ram installed.
  32. 1 stock floppy drive
  33. 2091 SCSI HD controller, with 2MB fast ram.  This has revision 08 of
  34.     the SCSI chip.
  35. Multiface 3 card (2 serial + 1 Parallel)
  36.  
  37. The SCSI chain has a 330MB Seagate HD (Unit 0 LUN 0) and a Zip drive
  38.     (Unit 5 LUN 0).

  40. My questions:

  43. 1.  Is the Autoconfig RAM shortage problem configuration related or
  44.     trashed-ram related?
  45.  
  46. 2.  What do the jumpers do and how should they be set?
  47.  
  48. 3.  Is the RAM on the 2091 interfering?  It does not appear to be as
  49.     the results are the same if the 2091 is removed, but might it
  50.     cause interference once the initial problem is solved?
  51.  
  52. 4.  Any other bits of advice?
