- I just acquired a 2620 accelerator (so I'm on a budget, okay?!?) from
- the local used Amiga parts dealer, who are very difficult to get ahold
- of save for one night each month (when they host the local users'
- group meeting and so are open way late). This card is populated with
- 4MB of ZIP's. When I put it into my machine, I got a yellow screen,
- blue text, stating that there were total 5MB (incorrect, there are 7
- with the 4 on the accel, 2 on the 2091 and 1 on the motherboard) and
- that Autoconfig ran out of RAM. It dropped me into an ML monitor of
- some sort.
-
- I was able, by playing with jumpers, etc, to get the machine to
- display a boot selection screen (three boxes, one each marked
- "AmigaDOS on 68000," "AmigaDOS on 68020" and "Amiga UX."), but still
- the message about Autoconfig being out of memory space in the upper
- left-hand corner. If I clicked on either of the AmigaDOS boxes, it
- hit my HD a couple of times, then came back to that screen. If I
- clicked on the AmigaUX box, it hit the floppy drive and (natrually,
- lacking a UNIX boot disk) returned to this screen.
-
- For the record, here is the full setup:
-
- Amiga 2000, fat agnus, 1MB chip ram installed.
- 1 stock floppy drive
- 2091 SCSI HD controller, with 2MB fast ram. This has revision 08 of
- the SCSI chip.
- Multiface 3 card (2 serial + 1 Parallel)
-
- The SCSI chain has a 330MB Seagate HD (Unit 0 LUN 0) and a Zip drive
- (Unit 5 LUN 0).
-
- My questions:
-
-
- 1. Is the Autoconfig RAM shortage problem configuration related or
- trashed-ram related?
-
- 2. What do the jumpers do and how should they be set?
-
- 3. Is the RAM on the 2091 interfering? It does not appear to be as
- the results are the same if the 2091 is removed, but might it
- cause interference once the initial problem is solved?
-
- 4. Any other bits of advice?
-
- Thanks in advance to any and all who can help.
